Wearing a breathing apparatus, former Chester city firefighter Rudy Hollis, disposes of an insulin syringe which helps controls his diabetes. Hollis also suffers from periodic heart stoppages, a complication from a kidney transplant. The suspected cause of his illnesses was fighting the Wade dump site fire in 1978 where emergency responders were exposed to thousands of drums of burning toxic waste without protective clothing. The fire is the suspected cause of the deaths and illnesses of dozens of Chester’s emergency personnel.
